Larson History

What began as a dairy farm, transitioned into the home of the largest rodeo in Northern California from 1928 to 1950’s. We planted our first vineyard in 1978, and in 1985 when we made more wine than we could drink, we opened the winery. Hence our motto:

“We drink what we can, and sell the rest!”
– Tom Larson

Meet The Larsons.

We are family owned and operated and we are all involved in daily operations.  Tom is the Wine Master,  CEO and head of Vineyard Operations; Becky oversees our Wine Club and Tasting Room; Erica manages our Human Resources, Safety Programs, and our Bottling Line Operation; Hayden manages the Tasting Room, Wyatt works in Production, and Will (while still in college), work a variety of jobs from vineyards to bottling. We are very proud of our whole team and the excellent wines we produce.

It is our mission to “Make Great Memories”, and we hope that you will join us, as we do it all from grape to glass. Every day we are grateful for how lucky we are to be stewards of this land.

Winemaker,
Shane Ryan.

Born and raised in Sonoma Valley, Shane knew early on that the wine industry was going to be his passion and life-long pursuit. He obtained a degree from Sonoma State University in Wine Business Strategy and concurrently started gaining practical knowledge in the wine Industry. His first job was in the cellar at Trentadue and he spent the next five years gaining all the knowledge he could there. During this time, Shane also picked up some extra hours working in the tasting room at Larson Family winery. Shane enjoyed serving and talking about wine so much that he stayed on for the next two years working weekends and sharing his passion for wine with others. He even met his wife while working in the tasting room at Larson in the summer of 2011. They have been married for eight years now and have two children.

Shane was the Assistant Winemaker at Larson from 2013-2017, then left for a bit to challenge his skill set at Benziger. In 2022 he rejoined Larson as Winemaker, and is eager to showcase his knowledge and style of winemaking into the brand. We are excited to share with you all where he will take the brand going forward.

Wine Dogs, Rosko, Louie, Gus, & Rocky.

Hardworking farm dogs, and the namesake of our bestselling Three Lab Cab, Rosko, Louie and Gus are usually found wandering around the winery, waiting to greet guests, or out in the vineyard with the crew.

Rosko is our big, hungry, lazy lab and he looks like a bear. You’ll see him move quickly when a sandwich, or cheese is left unattended.

Louie is in the middle and strives for attention, and Gus is the resident puppy who loves playing with, and antagonizing his older siblings.

Rocky is a rescue from Tennessee, and while not a lab, he fits right in with his sweet disposition. They all couldn’t be happier to live the wine dog life!
