The label was designed standing in the vineyard. At the corner of Highways 37 and 121 in southern Sonoma County, the land opens to something rare: sixty acres of estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with an unobstructed sightline across the north shore of San Francisco Bay toward Mount Tamalpais.
On a clear morning you can pick out the towers of the Golden Gate. You can watch the tide shift. You can feel the marine air moving up the bay, holding temperatures down through the growing season, slowing ripening, preserving acidity, building the kind of complexity that turns up in the glass.
The view is not incidental. It explains the wine. Viewpoint is what that specific place produces, made by a family that has farmed this corner of Sonoma County for five generations.
